Travel Insurance for Georgia - Policy Summary
This page is a plain-English summary of the compulsory health and accident insurance policy for tourists entering Georgia, underwritten by Unison under Decree No. 602 of the Government of Georgia (26 December 2025). It is issued by Unison; cover.ge (Cover Solutions LLC) acts as an agent.

What you're covered for
The total reimbursement limit is at least 30,000 GEL per insured traveller (≈ 10,000 EUR), distributed across the services below. Limits and sub-limits in the table are indicative - see the policy for binding values.

Where and when you're covered
- Where: only the territory of Georgia (excluding the occupied territories).
- When cover begins: at 00:00 on the start date shown on your policy - not at the moment of purchase.
- Events before the policy enters into force are not covered. In addition, events occurring within the first 6 hours after purchase are excluded.
- Minimum policy length: 1 day. The insurance period must not be shorter than your trip.
What's included

- Emergency outpatient care when delay would risk death, disability, or major deterioration (100 GEL deductible per case).
- Emergency inpatient care for the same severity threshold (sub-limits per bed-day apply).
- Emergency dental services in licensed clinics - tooth extraction and anesthesia.
- Medical evacuation from the scene or a clinic to another medical facility or to a Georgian border crossing.
- Repatriation within the limits stated in the policy.
Key exclusions
The policy does not cover claims arising from any of the following. This list is a simplified summary; refer to the policy for the full list of exclusions.
- Conditions or events that existed before the policy started.
- Events occurring within the first 6 hours after purchase.
- Epidemics or pandemics.
- Professional sports.
- War, terrorism, civil unrest, or military exercises and training.
- Illegal acts, self-injury, suicide attempts, intentional or gross negligence, intoxication, substance abuse, or events while imprisoned.
- Treatment in unlicensed facilities, experimental medicine, or alternative therapies (acupuncture, homeopathy, manual therapy, etc.).
- Radiation or environmental contamination.
- Misrepresentation, missing claim deadlines, or events outside Georgia or outside the insurance period.
How to claim
- Call the 24-hour hotline +995 32 2 991 991 within 24 hours of the event. If your health prevents you, ask anyone with you to call on your behalf.
- Show your policy to medical staff and ask the clinic to leave a notification with Unison's hotline.
- Submit your claim documents to Unison within 10 calendar days of the event: application, policy, passport with the border-crossing date, medical and financial documentation, the diagnosis (in ICD-10 codes), proof of payment, and, where applicable, an accident certificate issued by law enforcement authorities and any available investigation materials if a criminal case has been opened.
- The deductible shown on your policy is deducted from the reimbursement.
Premium, cancellations and refunds
The premium is paid once when the policy is issued. Under the insurer's terms, the paid premium is generally non-refundable. Cover.ge does not provide cancellations, refunds, exchanges, or credits once the policy is issued. Please review your dates and traveller details carefully before paying.
