Frequently asked questions

Do I actually need this insurance to enter Georgia?

Yes. As of January 1st, 2026, Georgia's Decree No. 602 mandates that all visitors must have health and accident insurance covering at least 30,000 GEL (or equivalent) for the entire duration of their stay.

How soon will I get the policy?

Instantly. Once your payment is complete, you'll receive the PDF policy by email and a digital border card you can open on your phone for offline use at the border.

Can I change my travel dates after buying?

Only extensions are possible — you can extend the end date by issuing a new short policy for the extra days through Extend, using your policy number and email. The start date and existing coverage window can't be changed once issued, and unused days don't refund.

Will this be accepted at all Georgian borders?

Absolutely. This policy was explicitly designed to meet every requirement of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and is recognized at all land and air borders.

What does the policy actually cover?

Up to 30,000 GEL per traveler in total — emergency hospitalization (up to 20,000 GEL), emergency outpatient care (up to 10,000 GEL, with a 100 GEL deductible per case), emergency dentistry (up to 500 GEL), medical evacuation for sport injury (up to 2,000 GEL), repatriation (up to 5,000 GEL), and a 24/7 assistance hotline. Coverage applies inside Georgia only, for the dates on your policy.

Who do I call if I'm sick or have an accident in Georgia?

Call the Unison 24/7 assistance hotline at +995 32 2 991 991 — it's printed on your border card and PDF. You must notify the hotline within 24 hours of any medical incident, and submit your claim documents (passport with entry stamp, medical records, ICD-10 diagnosis, receipts) within 10 calendar days.

Are pre-existing conditions covered?

No. Like every Decree 602–compliant compulsory tourist policy, pre-existing medical conditions are excluded — the policy covers sudden illness or accident that occurs in Georgia during your trip. If you take ongoing treatment for a known condition, arrange separate cover before you travel.

Can I cancel and get a refund?

The premium is paid one-time at issuance and is non-refundable under Georgia's compulsory-insurance rules. If your trip dates change, use Extend instead of cancelling — your existing policy stays valid for the dates already covered, and a new short policy is issued for the extra days at the standard daily rate.

I didn't get the email with my policy — what now?

Check spam first. If it isn't there, use Resend my border card and enter the email you used at checkout — we'll re-send any active policies linked to that address. If you mistyped your email at checkout, contact us with your policy number and we'll forward it manually.
